Alexis Langlois-Rémillard

FRQNT postdoc at Universität Bonn

I am looking for a new position for the next academic year (or a bit earlier if administration is easy).

Since October 2025 I am a FRQNT-funded postdoc at Universität Bonn in the group of Catharina Stroppel.

From October 2023 to September 2025, I was a Hausdorff postdoc at the Hausdorff Center in Mathematics in Bonn under the mentorship of Eveliina Peltola.

From May 2023 to September 2023 I was a postdoc at Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (ScaDS.AI) Leipzig, Universität Leipzig, and a visitor at the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik in den Naturwissenschaften, Leipzig, Germany, with Érika Roldán Roa.

From April 2019 to April 2023, I was a PhD student at Universiteit Gent under the supervision of Hendrik De Bie, Roy Oste and Joris Van der Jeugt. My thesis was on the representation theory of the Dunkl total angular momentum algebra.

From September 2014 to January 2019, I did my bachelor and master degrees at Université de Montréal, the latter under the direction of Yvan Saint-Aubin with a thesis on the representation theory of seam algebras, a generalisation of Temperley-Lieb algebras.

Teaching

Where will I be in the near future?

For the rest, outside conferences and trips, I will be in Bonn from October 2023 to 2026.

Research interests

I am interested in: algebra, representation theory, mathematical physics. More specifically, I study and work with: diagrammatic algebras and categories, centraliser algebras, rational Cherednik algebras, reflection groups, Dunkl operators, Lie (super)algebras, and Temperley-Lieb algebras. I have also recently been interested in complexity theory and extremal combinatorics through chess-inspired mathematical problems.

  • Public fundings

I believe that we, as researchers receiving public fundings, should be transparent in our management. My first step in this direction is to disclose the fundings I have received below (with more detail in my CV).

My current funding is a postdoctoral scholarship from the Fonds de Recherche du Québec -- Nature et technologies (grant number 326641, https://doi.org/10.69777/326641.

During 2023--2025 I was funded b a Hausdorff postdoc position at the HCM, which is funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) under Germany's Excellence Strategy - GZ 2047/1, Projekt-ID 390685813.

My postdoc at Leipzig was funded with financial support by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany and by Sächsische Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft, Kultur und Tourismus in the programme Center of Excellence for AI-research „Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Dresden/Leipzig“ (project identification number: ScaDS.AI).

My PhD research was funded by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies (grant number 270527) and by the Excellence in Science research project PRIMA (grant number 30889451).

My Master's thesis was funded by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies (grant number 207764) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (grant identifier 510954-2017).

I did two internships during my bachelor that were funded by the NSERC (grant identifiers 498669-2016; 483328-2015).

    Mundane and trivia

I pronounce my first name Aleksi but also quite like Alexeï and Aliocha. I speak French, English, Dutch, and German; you can contact me in any of these languages (you are also welcome to try others, but I probably will not answer in the same). I pass the time, amongst other activities, by reading, writing, playing chess, learning languages, taking pictures, starting random hobbys, 3D-printing and swimming. Topics that might make me speak for too long include: typography, government systems, the late medieval European period, the Cathar heresy in Occitan, chess history, books, Émile Zola, Québec gins, Belgian beer, Simone de Beauvoir and stories from Dwarf Fortress.
