Since October 2023, I am a Hausdorff postdoc at the Hausdorff Center in Mathematics in Bonn under the mentorship of Eveliina Peltola.
From May 2023 to September 2023 I was a postdoc at Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (ScaDS.AI) Leipzig, Universität Leipzig, Germany in the group of Sayan Mukherjee under the mentorship of Érika Roldán-Roa. I was also a visiting researcher at the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik in den Naturwissenschaften, also in the group of Érika Roldán-Roa.
From April 2019 to April 2023, I was a PhD student at Universiteit Gent under the supervision of Hendrik De Bie, Roy Oste and Joris Van der Jeugt. My thesis was on the representation theory of the Dunkl total angular momentum algebra.
From September 2014 to January 2019, I did my bachelor and master degrees at Université de Montréal, the latter under the direction of Yvan Saint-Aubin with a thesis on the representation theory of seam algebras, a generalisation of Temperley-Lieb algebras.
I will be on a nordic trip in December: first to Uppsala (04--07) and after to Helsinki (08--13), I will give a talk in both (05 and 12, resp.).
I will be back to America 20 Dec to 20 January, mostly in Montréal.
For the rest, outside conferences and trips, I will be in Bonn from October 2023 to 2025+.
I am interested in: algebra, representation theory, mathematical physics. More specifically, I study and work with: diagrammatic algebras and categories, centraliser algebras, rational Cherednik algebras, reflection groups, Dunkl operators, Lie (super)algebras, and Temperley-Lieb algebras. I have also recently been interested in complexity theory and extremal combinatorics through chess-inspired mathematical problems.
2023-11-10 I gave a talk on uncoiled algebra at the junior algebra seminar of Oxford
2023-10-27 I gave a talk on chess and mathematics for the Flemish chess initiative: Schaakinitiatiev Vlaanderen
2023-10-16--18 I was visiting the MPI-MiS in Leipzig
2023-09-29 I moved to Bonn to begin my new position!
2023-09-08 My Master student Stijn Dezeure successfully defended his Master's thesis titled Moving towards practical quantum decoders for the classical-quantum channel. Srdan Lazendic and me were his mentors for his Master's thesis under Prof Aleksandra Pizurica.
2023-09-01 Our preprint The double dihedral Dunkl total angular momentum algebra with Marcelo De Martino and Roy Oste is finally out online arXiv:2308.16366! It extends the last part of my PhD thesis in which we focus on the representations of the TAMA for two dihedral group, using a subalgebra admitting a triangular decomposition to give out necessary condition for finite-dimensional representations.
2023-08-31 I was in Nyon until 18 September and was travelling around Switzerland for research and work.
2023-08-01 My next conference in 02-11 August 2023 will be the LMS-Bath Summer School and Symposium on Geometric and Categorical Representation theory, Bath, England Summer School website and Workshop website.
2023-06-26-30 I will be in Ghent for the Workshop Algebraic structures and special functions in theoretical physics.
2023-06-01 I will be in Japan visiting Julien Gaboriaud until June 20th.
2023-05-03 I started my position in Leipzig!
2023-04-27 My research proposal got awarded a 2-years FRQNT postdoctoral scholarship in Bonn.
2023-04-24 I successfully defended my PhD!
2023-02-27 Our preprint Uncoiled affine Temperley-Lieb algebras and their Wenzl-Jones projectors written with Alexi Morin-Duchesne is available online arXiv:2302.12782! It defines finite-dimensional quotients of the affine and periodic Temrperley-Lieb algebras and construct Wenzl-Jones idempotents for them. It is a quite colourful reading with many diagrams.
2023-02-26 I will be in Les Houches taking part in a winter school until 2023-03-04 Applications of Hecke and related algebras: Representation, Integrability and Physics.
2023-02-15 I will give a talk in the algebra seminar of the University of Glasgow. I will stay there 14 to 16 February.
2023-02-05 I accepted an offer from the Hausdorff Center in Mathematics for a Hausdorff postdoc position in Bonn! It should begin in October 2023 for 2 years.
2023-01-31 I will give a talk in the algebra seminar of the University of Manchester on Tuesday 31 January, see the event. I will also stay in Manchester for some day from 30 January to 02 February to visit Kieran Calvert.
2023-01-21 Our mini-course webpage is up! You can visit this relay page for more information, or go directly register on the website https://sites.google.com/view/kleine-seminar-mini-course/home.
2023-01-17 My PhD thesis has been submitted! The internal defence will take place on the 06 March 2023. It is bad form to plan the public defence before the end of the internal, but let's say it would be wise to keep the 24 April free would you want to attend my public defence.
My postdoc at Leipzig was funded with financial support by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany and by Sächsische Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft, Kultur und Tourismus in the programme Center of Excellence for AI-research „Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Dresden/Leipzig“ (project identification number: ScaDS.AI).
My PhD research was publicly funded by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies (grant number 270527) and from the Excellence in Science research project PRIMA (grant number 30889451).
I pronounce my first name Aleksi but also quite like Alexeï. I speak French, English, Dutch, and I am learning German; you can contact me in any of these languages. I pass the time, amongst other activities, by reading, writing, playing chess, learning languages, starting random hobbys, and swimming. Topics that might make me speak for too long include: typography, government systems, the late medieval European period, the Cathar heresy in Occitan, chess history, books, Émile Zola, Québec gins, Belgian beer, Simone de Beauvoir and stories from Dwarf Fortress.
